Laser cleaning of turbines

Part of the renovation of steam turbines is the complete removal of impurities from their surfaces. Using a powerful pulsed laser, cleaning is very effective, all organic and inorganic impurities are removed without damaging the steel surface. The situation is more complicated with the removal of scale, which has practically the same composition as the surface itself. Renovation cannot be done without grinding, however, using a 3kW continuous laser, it is possible to remove a significant part of the scale and speed up the entire process.
