This can be a problem, for example, with aluminum alloys, it can be connected to the expansion of the object, it is necessary to dismantle any connectors, gufers, etc., it is time and energy consuming. Laser removal of the polymer layer is very effective, the pulsed laser passes through the polymer layer and breaks the bond between the polymer and the metal.
